On 01.07.2003 the German "Act on the Reformation of the Training and Education of Law Students" came into effect, an act that is designed to better prepare law student for their profession, in particular for the tasks of the attorney. Finally, a well-known reality has been officially acknowledged: between 80 and 90% of all law students who completed their second judicial examination will choose the occupation of attorney.
For many years now, our law firm has offered articling students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of German law by completing their prescribed internship period ( "Wahlstation") with us. Following an initial phase of adjustment and familiarization, they are then given the chance to manage clients with increasingly less direction and to assist with our current assignments. In addition, problems involving German-Canadian legal relations may be analyzed and presented by the students, which also serves as an excellent preparation for their oral exams.
